As your wedding photographer, we need to know what is important to you. When you are planning your wedding, no doubt something will spark off an idea for the theme, or even just an added feature, and if you tell us what that item was, and why it excited you so much, we can use it as the basis of some truly stunning wedding photography that will let your personality shine through.
But what can it be?! Well, anything! If, for you, it all started with the story behind the engagement ring, we can use that knowledge to understand the kind of images your are hoping for…and of course, we will also make sure the ring is featured! Some brides will have a very obvious theme, whether it is as simple as the colour you have chosen, a whole retro theme, or subtle hints about something important to the two of you (a joint love of vinyl records, books, cars…anything!) you want your wedding album to reflect it rather than just recording it.
On the other hand, if there are some twists to your wedding that won’t be obvious to anyone watching, but that you want to remember particularly (and don’t mind Great Aunt Sally seeing when she flicks through your photo album!), we can record them too. Whether it is a candle lit to remember someone important who couldn’t be there, a pair of shoes that weren’t designed for the generic bride, or even some sexy lingerie hidden underneath your demure bridal gown, we can find a way of incorporating it into your wedding photos (tastefully, of course!).
As any parent knows, as tiring as the last days of pregnancy or the early days with a newborn may seem, they fly past so quickly. We all wish that we could hold on to those precious moments for a little while longer, but all too soon they are just memories and your tiny, helpless newborn is a running, talking toddler! Our See Me Grow Collections offer you the chance to preserve a few of those precious memories forever. From bump photography, through the first year of that newborn’s life, a professional baby photographer can create some beautiful photographs you can treasure forever.
After the birth, we find it best to have the newborn photoshoot in the first two weeks of the newborn baby’s life. At this point, as well as being adorably small, they also tend to be more sleepy…although it may not feel like it to you! After that, there are several options in the different packages that you can choose. We can schedule photoshoots between 3 – 6 months, 6 – 12 months, 12 – 18 months and 18 – 24 months.
Here at Rebecca Dawe, we are all for shopping locally, especially when it comes to weddings. With a to do list as long as your arm, you don’t want to have to trek between appointments, or want to pay extra for certain wedding services to travel to your home or venue. Services such as hairdressers and wedding photographers may have to charge for travel outside their local area as fuel costs are so high these days!
Obviously, when looking for wedding photographers in Leicestershire, you need look no further than us at Rebecca Dawe Photography! But where do you look for other local wedding services? This blog series will hopefully cover local wedding services such as venues, cakes, wedding dresses and more. You can imagine how many weddings we’ve been to locally – we definitely have our favoured suppliers!
The first instalment of this series was Local Wedding Services In Leicestershire – Wedding Photographers. This second post will be about the all important wedding dress!
One wedding dress shop in Leicestershire which we particularly recommend is the Wedding Dress Factory Outlet. They sell a wide range of designer wedding dresses without the hefty price tag. You can buy your dream wedding dress for up to 75% less than the retail price. Almost all the wedding gowns are brand new, with a small percentage having been used once in photoshoots or on catwalks. There are no seconds at all – the reason they can offer these dresses so heavily discounted is because they come directly from the designers or manufacturers who have excess stock due to discontinuation of lines, cancelled orders, unused samples and even one off designs. The Wedding Dress Factory Outlet also stocks some new designers’ dresses who want to offer beautiful bridalwear that is affordable for everyone. Lastly, they even run a competition via Facebook to win a free wedding dress each month!
It probably goes without saying, that it is considered unlucky to have a wedding on Friday 13th! As it Friday 13th is one of the most widespread superstitions, you could even find yourself struggling to find certain suppliers who have to attend the wedding such as caterers or wedding photographers! In olden times it was considered lucky to have your wedding early during the week, with Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday being the luckiest, and Saturday was considered to have ‘no luck at all’. These days most weddings do take place on Saturdays, as weekends are easier for most guests.
If you do choose to have your wedding on Friday 13th, you could have a theme of ‘good luck superstitions’ and decorate your venue with horseshoes and four leaf clovers. A colour scheme of green and silver would work well with that, and give you plenty of scope for using plenty of greenery in your bouquets and table decorations, with a few white flowers such as roses or lillies as accents.
In other cultures, the number thirteen isn’t considered as unlucky as it is here, in fact the chinese regard it as a lucky number, so an alternative would be to have a chinese theme, with chinese lanterns and some well-researched characters used as symbols throughout the venue.
And as an added bonus, there would be less chance of forgetting your wedding anniversary!
It is becoming increasingly common for brides and grooms to arrange their weddings on bank holiday weekends, or other days that are significant to everybody rather than just the couple. Is it a good idea? Well, like every other potential wedding date, there are pluses and minuses, and these will be different for everyone! As well as yourselves, you need to consider your guests and your wedding suppliers – wedding photographers and hairdressers who are free on a bank holiday weekend are liable to be harder to find.
These days, many of us prefer to shop locally, and our weddings are certainly no exception. When you have a to do list as long as your arm, you don’t want to have to travel far between appointments, or have to pay extra for certain wedding services to travel to our home or venue. Services such as hairdressers and wedding photographers have to charge for travel outside their local area as fuel costs are so high these days!
