As your wedding photographer, we need to know what is important to you. When you are planning your wedding, no doubt something will spark off an idea for the theme, or even just an added feature, and if you tell us what that item was, and why it excited you so much, we can use it as the basis of some truly stunning wedding photography that will let your personality shine through.
But what can it be?! Well, anything! If, for you, it all started with the story behind the engagement ring, we can use that knowledge to understand the kind of images your are hoping for…and of course, we will also make sure the ring is featured! Some brides will have a very obvious theme, whether it is as simple as the colour you have chosen, a whole retro theme, or subtle hints about something important to the two of you (a joint love of vinyl records, books, cars…anything!) you want your wedding album to reflect it rather than just recording it.
On the other hand, if there are some twists to your wedding that won’t be obvious to anyone watching, but that you want to remember particularly (and don’t mind Great Aunt Sally seeing when she flicks through your photo album!), we can record them too. Whether it is a candle lit to remember someone important who couldn’t be there, a pair of shoes that weren’t designed for the generic bride, or even some sexy lingerie hidden underneath your demure bridal gown, we can find a way of incorporating it into your wedding photos (tastefully, of course!).
Engagement photoshoots are becoming increasingly popular, so why not use it as a way of finding your wedding photographer early? And then you get to give them a test to make sure they really will produce the type of photography you want!
If you want a photoshoot to celebrate your engagement, I would first decide on your wedding date. This will more than likely mean you need to choose your venue as otherwise you could find your heart set on a place that isn’t available on the right day. Once you have decided this, you will be able to find and book a wedding photographer. If you are planning to use the engagement shoot as a test for the photographer, you should first check their availability on your wedding date, then get the engagement shoot done as quickly as possible so they don’t get booked up!

Something that many couples don’t consider until they are prompted to by their newly chosen wedding photographer, is what group photographs they want. There is an assumption that there are a standard set of family and group photos, and they don’t need to think about it. Unsurprisingly this is not the case – you know your family and friends much better than your photographer, and so only you will know which are the groupings you will want.
Your photographer will probably have some suggestions, which will probably be much the same as the ‘standard’ groups which are;
If you have just celebrated your wedding, chances are you have just received a lot of gifts, so what can you possibly give each other that is going to stand out as something special? It is common for brides and grooms to choose a package from their wedding photographer that includes the wedding album, but not any additional prints or framed photographs. Why not rectify that by choosing a romantic image of the two of you on your wedding day?
When you set up house together, artwork and photographs on the walls are often the last thing to be considered, but they have such a big effect in making a house into a home. Whether you choose a large print to make a big statement on the wall, a smaller print for the mantelpiece or bedside table, or a little wallet sized picture, giving your love a reminder of your wedding is sure to make your first Valentine’s Day as a married couple extra special.
Whether you are getting married in a big church wedding, a reception office or abroad; whether you are renewing your vows or having a civil ceremony, everyone wants their wedding photographer to create a beautiful wedding album to remember the big day.
At Rebecca Dawe Photography, we work hard to ensure we can present you with a range of images from which to choose the special ones for your wedding album. Only you know which are the bits you really want to capture forever, so you get to make that choice. After you have chosen all the pictures you want, we work on the layouts.
